Don't speak Texas electricity? That's okay, here's a glossary of terms to help you understand your electric bill.
Advanced Metering System Surcharge
This is a surcharge mandated by the State of Texas legislature that allows electric delivery companies to recover the costs for their Advanced Metering Systems. This surcharge will be split by all the electricity users who get an Advance Meter. Your monthly surcharge is added onto your bill over the course of a few years. This is the number your meter is multiplied by to get the correct amount of usage.Bill Period
This is the start and end of each individual billing cycle for a customer. This can vary depending on the number of days in each particular month, however. But a billing period is from 28-31 days.Meter Number
This is the serial number of the meter that records your kilowatt-hour usage.Non-Recurring Charges
This area highlights and identifies any non-recurring charges on your bill. This includes things like late fees, returned check fees, restoration of service charges, or any other fees that are disclosed in Bounce Energy's terms of service contract that is provided to the customer.Recurring Charges
This highlights and identifies the different individual recurring charges other than for electric service.Electric Service Identifier (EISD)
This is a unique number given to your residence by ERCOT. Dallas Electricity Providers use this number to make sure that you get the correct service.City Sales Tax

This is the amount of electricity you've used. It is measured in Kilowatt hours. The calculation works as:
Current Reading - Previous Reading = UsageCustomer Charges
These are flat fees that are applied to a customer's electricity bill each month, regardless of how many kilowatt (kWh) used each month. This fee covers meter reading, equipment, and customer service.Current Read
This is the meter reading at the end of your billing cycle.Total Current Charges
This section highlights the balances from the previous bill, payments made on the previous bill, the total amount due and a check box for the customer to voluntarily donate money to the bill payment assistance program.Previous Read
This is the meter reading from the beginning of the start of your new billing cycle.Bill Payment Assistance Program (Bottom Right of your Bounce Energy Bill)
The Bill Payment Assistance Program was implemented by the PUC so that in the instance where a customer is going to have trouble paying their Texas electricity bill, they can contact Bounce Energy and receive assistance in handling their bill if they cannot pay. If the customer calls for assistance, they will then be informed of the different kind of bill payment options and assistance programs that are currently provided by their Texas electric company. These kind of programs might include bill payment assistance, deferred payment options, disconnection moratoriums for the ill or low-income energy assistance programs. Every REP is required to provide a yearly report on June 1st to the commission summarizing the amount of customer donations, the amount of money set aside for bill payment assistance, and the assisting agency or agencies selected to disburse funds to resident customers and the amount of money disbursed. This is PUC Regulation #25.480.Kilowatt-hours (kWh)
This is a measurement of energy. One kilowatt (kW) of power for a one hour time span. This is the amount of electricity that providers charge you on your bill for each billing period.Late Payment Penalty
This is a one-time penalty of not more than 5% maybe be charged on an overdue bill. Outstanding delinquent balances cannot be re-penalized. However, this doesn't apply to residential or small commercial customers of the Provider of Last Resort (POLR).Type
